Celebrating Ten Years Of Purpose
The Shepherd's Center of Webster/Kirkwood, Inc. celebrated "The Perfect 10", its tenth anniversary on
September 12, 2008.

Since it's incorporation in 1998, the Shepherd's Center has provided much-needed senior programs and
services to older adults in the community.  Because of the generosity and commitment of volunteers, senior
neighbors can maintain vitality and independence.

Shepherd's Center has a variety of programs and services for older adults:  Adventures in Learning, Shepherd's
Travelers, Chores Galore, Transportation ministry, Handy Hands and the Resource Center.
Goal
The goal of the Shepherd's Center is to enable older adults to remain vital and independent through programs
and services that promote positive aging.

Welcome to the Shepherd's Center
Mission Statement
The Shepherd's Center of Webster/Kirkwood, Inc. is an interfaith volunteer organization that provides programs
and services for older adults.
Summary of progress in ten years:
  •  Grown from three programs to seven programs
  •  Expanded from 30 to 160 volunteers who lead and carry out the programs and services by doing 220 jobs.
  •  Increased the number of Sponsoring Congregations form three to seven churches
  •  Connected with six supporting Community Partners
  •  More than 1000 seniors have enjoyed in the Adventures in Learning, livelong learning classes
  •  The Resource Center has provided information to more than 11,000 callers
  •  More than 500 seniors have been served by the Transportation Ministry
  •  More than 140 people have been volunteer drivers in the Transportation Ministry
  •  More than 3,250 rides have been provided to medical appointments
  •  15 Hand Hands volunteers have done 200+ minor home repair jobs
  •  More than 375 youth volunteers and leaders have helped 150+ older neighbors with yard clean up
Statement of purpose:
  •   Involve and maintain older adults who want to live independently
  •  Help strengthen ministries to older adults by building on an interfaith coalition that encourages      
    community  collaboration
  •  provide opportunities for older adults to use their experience, skills, values and gifts in significant roles in
    society
  •  Enhance life satisfaction through the discovery of inner resources, as well as through life-long learning,
    caring relationships, creative expression and community service
  •  Encourage and experiment with new programs and services that enhance the aging experience for both
    active and homebound older adults
