Resource Center
There are many services available to older adults in the St. Louis area.  Our trained volunteers can
help assist in locating any needed professional agencies and services.  Our resourceful volunteers
can help you connect with our programs and services also.  Our Resource Center offers help to
seniors, pastors, friends and children of seniors.

Shepherd’s Travelers:
Volunteer leaders plan and carry out day trips that are of interest to our group.  In the past we have
visited Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre, Historic St. Genevieve, New Cathedral Holiday Brass Concert,
Metrolink excursions, Highland, IL and Springfield, IL.  These trips are a way to travel and meet new
friends for a fun day out.  We also promote the trips of Eagle Bank and Trust Co., one of our
community partners.  For current trips, call us.

Transportation Ministry:
Transportation to appointments is a critical link to independence.  Our volunteer drivers can provide
medical, dental and therapy transportation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays to independent
ambulatory 55+ older adults.  Our volunteer drivers are able to drive individuals on a first come first serve
basis one time per week.  All riders must register with our program to learn about our ministry before a
ride is scheduled.

Handy Hands:
In keeping with our mission of enabling senior independence, we have developed a minor home repair
program, Handy Hands.  Talented volunteers administer and deliver this service.  Seniors 55+, who
own their home, may register for this service.  The key is minor home repair such as minor plumbing,
minor electrical work, installation of grab bars, change hard to reach light bulbs, smoke detector
battery change, and a variety of other small tasks.  We do not do emergency work.

Chores Galore:
In the spring and fall we recruit local families, scout and youth groups to provide a much needed yard
clean up for their senior neighbors.  In the spring we work on the first Saturday in May and the fall is on
"Make a Difference Day” which is always the fourth Saturday in October.  Sometimes groups are
available on different dates.  Scheduling is on a first come first schedule basis.  The number of yards
we service is dependent on the number of youth that are available to help.
